What modulates our Sun? The majority of science work on the principle that the Sun is self modulating and each solar cycle is a product of a random number generator. There are others that suspect the Sun is modulated by the planets with a special emphasis on Uranus & Neptune. Thanks to Carl Smith who has recently left us we have new knowledge that significantly adds to Jose, Landscheidt & Charvàtovà's work.

Interview with Leif Svalgaard

Solar website SolarIMG has recorded an interview with solar scientist Leif  Svalgaard during September 2012. There are many ranging questions with Leif stating early in the interview that there is nothing unusual about current cycle 24. He ends the interview stating it is very likely we are heading into Maunder Minimum type grand minimum cycles. This is all based on the L&P theory that is now questioned by many. Not so many months ago on WUWT Leif was predicting SC25 to be a high cycle.

The old school solar science can only guess at future solar outcomes but using Carl's Graph it is very obvious the current downturn will be short and sweet where we should see a recovery during SC26.
